The Challenges
HDB’s role: HDB were commissioned to design this lakeside subdivision and work with the civil constructor to deliver an environmentally friendly niche development on former farmland just north of Grafton.
Council and surrounding residents had major concerns about pollution and silting affecting the freshwater lake on the site. To address this HDB Planning and Design designed a bio-retention basin, a first in the Clarence Valley LGA to ensure that the environmental quality of the lake would not be impacted upon.
Stage 2 is currently in the design phase which will incorporate further bio-retention systems for water quality purposes.
